Adjudicator Training Academy is open for authorised adjudicators

About The Book of World Records

We document the incredible, recognise the extraordinary, and help individuals and organisations prove what they have achieved.

The Book of World Records is a world record certifying agency. Innovators, athletes, educators, artists, schools, companies and communities come to us when they have done something remarkable and want it verified, certified and kept on record for the world to see.

Every record we certify is reviewed by trained adjudicators against clear evidence standards. Certified records are published in our digital record database on Mega Record Book, where anyone can check a certificate or record number.

Recognize. Verify. Celebrate.

We began in India and now certify records in more than 25 countries, through two offices.

How a record is certified

  1. Application

The applicant submits the record details, the category and supporting evidence.

  2. Pre-certification review

Our team checks the category, the rules that apply and whether the evidence is enough to proceed.

  3. Adjudication

An adjudicator verifies the attempt, either on site in real time or remotely from video, photos and witness statements.

  4. Final review

The evidence is checked against the record criteria, and the attempt against legal and ethical standards.

  5. Certificate and announcement

The record holder receives an official certificate, and the record is announced on our website and channels.

  6. Record kept up to date

The record stays in our digital database, where it can be verified and updated if it is broken or extended.

Our standards

Evidence we look for

Clear photographs and video of the whole attempt, statements from independent witnesses, official documents where they apply, and calibrated timing or measuring equipment for numerical records.

On-site and remote adjudication

For live events we send trained adjudicators to verify in real time. For other attempts, our team examines the submitted evidence in detail before any decision.

What we do not certify

We do not certify stunts that are unsafe, harmful or discriminatory. Attempts that falsify records or submit misleading evidence are rejected outright.

About this website

tbwr.org is where we share news, stream record events, and build our network of adjudicators, representatives and volunteers.
